Fix a Broken or Damaged Tooth with a Crown
A dental crown is a custom porcelain covering that restores a damaged tooth so it can function normally again. More importantly, it helps prevent future problems that can lead to pain, missed work, or tooth loss.
For nearly 40 years, Santa Ana families have trusted us for care that’s explained clearly, delivered carefully, and planned to last. Our entire team speaks Spanish, so you always understand what’s happening and why.

Protect Weakened Teeth From Breaking
When a tooth has decay, cracks, or a large filling, it becomes more likely to fracture. A porcelain crown reinforces the tooth and helps prevent damage that could lead to extraction.
This added protection allows you to keep your natural tooth longer.
Restore Comfortable Chewing and Speaking
A damaged tooth can make eating uncomfortable or uneven. A properly fitted crown restores normal shape and strength, so biting and chewing feel balanced again.
Most patients notice improved comfort and stability once the crown is in place.

Reduce the Risk of Future Emergencies
Crowns don’t just fix today’s problem. They help prevent repeat repairs, sudden fractures, and urgent dental visits caused by weakened teeth.
That means fewer surprises and more control over your dental care.
When a Dental Crown Is the Right Choice
Crowns are recommended when a tooth needs more support than a filling can provide.
Common reasons include:
- Large or failing fillings
- Cracked or broken teeth
- Teeth after root canal treatment
- Teeth weakened by decay
- Teeth that affect function or appearance
We show you what we see and explain why a crown is recommended before any treatment begins.

Your Dental Crown Treatment Step by Step
Exam and Planning
We start with an exam and digital X-rays to evaluate the tooth. You’ll see the images and get a clear explanation of your options, costs, and timing.
Our goal is to recommend the most practical solution that protects your tooth long term.
Tooth Preparation and Impressions
The area is numbed carefully using The Wand, which delivers anesthesia in a controlled, more comfortable way. The tooth is prepared, and precise impressions are taken.
A temporary crown is placed to protect your tooth while your permanent porcelain crown is crafted.
Final Crown Placement
At your second visit, we remove the temporary crown and carefully check the fit, bite, and appearance of your permanent crown before securing it in place.
Most patients return to normal eating and speaking right away.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can crowns help prevent future dental emergencies?
Yes. By strengthening weak teeth, crowns reduce the risk of sudden fractures that often lead to emergency visits.
How do I know if I need a crown instead of a filling?
If a tooth is too damaged or weakened to hold a filling safely, a crown provides better long-term protection. We explain this clearly during your exam.
Does insurance cover dental crowns?
Many insurance plans cover part of crown treatment. We review benefits and costs with you before starting care.
How many visits does a dental crown require?
We place crowns using a two-visit process. The first visit prepares the tooth, and the second visit places the permanent crown.
Is getting a crown painful?
The procedure is done with local anesthesia, and we use comfort-focused tools like The Wand. Most patients report minimal discomfort.
Will my crown look natural?
Yes. Porcelain crowns are custom-made to match your surrounding teeth in color and shape, so they blend in naturally.
How long do porcelain dental crowns last?
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, porcelain crowns often last 10–15 years or longer.
